Bonjour Jolie is a time-of-the-month subscription box that costs $25 a month (less if you subscribe for three months at a time or longer). It includes the feminine products you request (either a whole box of one kind, or a combination of pads, tampons and pantyliners), as well as pampering items, treats/snacks and a jewelry item.
Every month has a theme. This time it’s Summer. Most of the items come in a organza sachet. which I keep, because they’re so cute, and are separated into treats and pampering bags. I know past boxes have included chocolate, but it’s obviously too hot to ship chocolate right now.
First, the pampering. One sachet included this Beekman lotion and body wash. First, let me preface by saying I hate lotion. I hate how it feels on my hands. When the backs of my hands get dry, I channel a sea lion and rub the lotion on with the backs of my hands, never getting any on my palms. It grosses me out that much.
But the Beekman lotion is not greasy! The Fresh Air scent is very subtle and smells fresh and clean. This is a lotion I could use every day, palms and all, and not get grossed out. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave any filmy residue behind. Unfortunately, the Beekman website is sold out of the lotion right now. I’ll be buying a full-size bottle when it’s back in stock.
Also included in the pampering sachet were two Summer’s Eve feminine wipes and two packages of Advil.
I haven’t tried the body wash yet, but I have high hopes.
Next up is the treat bag. Up on opening the box, the first thing to great me was Famous Amos cookies. Okay! Those were a bit big to fit in the sachet, so they were separate. The rest of the items in the bag was mostly taffy-like products. I haven’t tried them yet, but I’m looking forward to the Coconut Long Boys. I’m sure they’re delicious. And the Jolly Rancher stick cracked me up. I haven’t seen one of those in years. UPDATE: The Long Boys Coconut candies are pretty much exactly like Samoa Girl Scout Cookies, without the crunch. I want more! Kind of like a coconut-flavored caramel.
I’m also excited to try the drink packets. They are made with crystallized citrus and have zero calories. I love adding flavor to my water without adding many calories, and these should fit right in. The varieties are lemon, lime, grapefruit and orange. UPDATE: I’ve tried the True Lemon, and it’s just like adding a squeeze of lemon to your water. Those will be great for on-the-go.
Last but not least is the jewelry item. It’s a Calla Lily necklace. According to the included fact sheet, the Swarovski pearl is June’s birthstone, and its value is $18. I don’t love it, and I don’t know that I would pay $18 for something similar. The chain, however, is lovely and long, and I’ll probably replace the pendant portion with something else.
Based on everything included, this box is well worth the $25 cost. I love taking the candy to work and sharing with co-workers. I’m cutting down on sweets, so I’ll likely eat one of each variety just to try it out. I *might* eat all the cookies, though.
I love getting surprises every month, and Bonjour Jolie is one of the best I’ve gotten so far. I loved the bracelet I got last month, so I’ll consider this month’s jewelry choice to be a fluke.
I pay for the box myself, and all opinions are my own. To learn about a variety of subscription boxes, check out My Subscription Addiction. There’s a very long list of boxes as well as reviews on most.
